Excerpts from Scene I
Setting: Sunday morning church service is almost over. Pastor has asked Minister Wannabeseen to make a couple of announcements. She is already at the podium when the curtains open the musician is playing softly.
Minister Wannabeseen: Isn’t God good?
Congregation: All the time.
Minister Wannabeseen: Pastor asked me to make an announcement and to dismiss us but I tell you, God has just been so good to me; I just have to give Him praise. Hallelujah!
Congregation: (A few amens)
Minister Wannabeseen: Come on stand to your feet and give God some praise.
Congregation: (some stand and clap, some remain seated – Shouting Sallie is the first one to stand)
Mother Pierce: (sitting on the front row – she does not stand.) Bless the Lord.
Minister Wannabeseen: Come on, I’m talking about God, He is worthy of your praise. Didn’t He wake you up this morning? Didn’t He open doors for you?
Bold Barbara: (seated – folding her arms) Didn’t we already have praise and worship?
Shouting Sallie: (standing – on the same row where Bold Barbara is seated) Hallelujah! Yes, God is good.
Minister Wannabeseen: I tell you He is just so good. You know when I think of His goodness, I can’t help but say “Hallelujah”!
Shouting Sallie: (shouts Hallelujah and starts dancing)

Excerpts from Scene II
Musician Melvin: Amen. Okay, we are not going to be here too long tonight. Pastor has a special request this week and would like for us to sing “The Presence of the Lord is Here” and “Thou Art A Shield For Me”. So Brother Oscar, I need for you to be prepared to sing your part on Sunday. Let’s briefly go over the “The Presence of the Lord is Here” and then we will go right into the meeting,
Oscar the Overcomer: Will do (moves to the front and gets a microphone – you could also have Musician Melvin to lead a portion of the song with Oscar)
Musician Melvin: (plays the song and the choir joins in. They sing it flawlessly. You can have Oscar and Melvin sing. If your musician is a female, you can change the name to Marcia, change Desperate Darlene to Desperate Danny).
Musician Melvin: Sounds good to me. That’s one of the songs we will do on Sunday. Now, why we called a special meeting tonight - I wanted to meet with everyone tonight so we can discuss a few things.
Choir Member #1 – Oh, brother, here we go.
Musician Melvin: Is there a problem?
Choir Member #1 – Oh, I’m sorry. It’s just that when our last musician said that, he ended up leaving.
Musician Melvin: I see. Well, I just have some housekeeping things I’m concerned about. (speaks slowly as if careful in choosing his words) As you know, I’ve only been here for three months. I have fallen in love with the ministry and the vision Pastor has for the ministry. I have sat back and observed and tried to allow time for us to grow together as a ministry team. You all do understand that singing in the choir is ministry?
Sanctified Sharon: (blurting out) That’s what I have been telling them for years!
Musician Melvin: Thank you Sister Sharon. What about the rest of you? Do you believe singing in the choir is ministry?
Choir Members: (some comment “of course” others nod their heads yes, some give no reply at all)
